NFL legend Tom Brady is halfway through his first season NOT in the NFL, and we have a hunch that he’s missing it more than he lets on. Here are the 4 teams we could see Tom Brady joining if he were to come back to the NFL.
Apparently last year, Tom Brady had a plan to go to the Raiders until a family situation called his big move off and he ultimately retired.
Now that, paired with Tom mentioning himself in a couple of podcasts that his family would call immediately if he unretired seems to me like there was an intervention of some sort to get him to retire in the first place.
With this being said, I have a feeling that Tom wanted to give the 2023 season a go before something happened in his private life. In my opinion, this could give him some level of drive to unretire as the decision to retire in the first place may not have necessarily been 100% his.
Here are four teams that would take Tom Brady if he decides to un-retire
The New York Jets
Right now it looks like the Jets season is over, after getting shellacked by the Chargers, unless they can turn it around quick. With Zach Wilson at QB, that’s not likely to happen, and Aaron Rodgers is rumored to be at least 6 weeks away from a return.
I don’t know that Brady would have interest in heading north to the Jets, being a proud New England Patriot for most of his career. However, if Tom Brady gave the Jets a phone call tomorrow, I think that they would likely offer him a deal given their situation.
The Minnesota Vikings
This seems like the only realistic option that Brady would consider, in my opinion. They’ve got Addison, Jefferson, and TJ Hockenson. Tom Brady at quarterback would give them a realistic shot at winning a Super Bowl this year. They did pick up Josh Dobbs, who maybe can lead a playoff run this season, but their rookie QB does not look great and already had an injury.
If Josh Dobbs has a bad game in the next week or two, I expect the Vikings fan chatter to pick up asking Tom Brady to come back and lead them to a Super Bowl. Apparently, Vikings fans have already DM’ed Brady asking him to come out of retirement to finish out the season.
The Miami Dolphins
I know that Tom Brady has previously been linked closely to the Dolphins. Since Brady is currently living in Miami, I think this would take an injury or really poor play by Tua to happen or even be a possibility this season.
The San Fransisco 49ers
What is going on with Brock Purdy? In my opinion, having Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey banged up has really impacted his performance, as those two are Purdy’s go-to targets on the field. I have a feeling that if Purdy does not get out of his slump, the 49ers fans will start to chatter about a Tom Brady recruitment.
Any other Super Bowl contender who has a quarterback go down to injury will likely have to consider Tom Brady as an option, due to his skill and imminent chatter from the fanbase. I can’t tell for certain if there’s a chance Brady will be coming back this season or not.
All I know for sure is that if he does have any time left on the field, it can’t be more than a season or two given his age, so he would need to act sooner than later.
