Teams With Little to No Chance of Making the Super Bowl
Note: This article was originally written in October of 2023.
1. The Chicago Bears
Chicago fans are facing another tough year, and the Bears season is a reflection of that. The Bears are currently 2-6 and would need a miracle to go to the Super Bowl at this point.
Their last visit to the Super Bowl was in 2007, where they lost to the Colts, 29-17. Currently, the Bears are in a three-way tie for least likely teams to win the Super Bowl at +100,000.
2. The Green Bay Packers
Another team having a tough year following the departure of Aaron Rogers, Allen Lazard, and DeVontae Adams. The Packers have been a force to recon with in recent years, most notably when Aaron Rogers led his team to the Super Bowl in 2011.
However, the Green Bay Packers have struggled this season and they may even make a change at the coaching position or quarterback, both of which seem to be struggling.
The Packers are currently at odds of +12,500 to win the 2024 Super Bowl.
3. The Carolina Panthers
This Charlotte-based team finally received their first win last week, and will need a heck of a lot more Hail Mary’s to get themselves to the Super Bowl.
They are currently in a three-way tie with the Bears and Cardinals for least likely to win the Super Bowl at +100,000.
4. The Atlanta Falcons
Tied with the Green Bay Packers at +12,500, the Falcons don’t have much of a shot. They just changed QB’s, and I don’t think this substitution will make a significant impact on team performance.
In my honest opinion, they probably do not have a great chance at attending this years Super Bowl.
5. The Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders just recently fired their head coach, which may get some different energy flowing, and it seems like the Raiders are ready to rebuild around Aiden O’Connell this season and hope for some good draft picks next season.
The odds of the Raiders winning the Super Bowl are currently sitting at +20,000.
6. The New England Patriots
The Patriots are 2-6 with not a whole lot going for them, it seems. Based on the teams performance this season, it looks like Bill Bellichick may even be on the hot seat.
Currently, the odds of the Patriots winning the Super Bowl are at +50,000.
The Current Super Bowl Standings
Headed into Week 10 of the NFL, these are our current predictions for most and least likely to attend Super Bowl 58. I think that a lot of these teams have upcoming games that will be very telling for whether or not they will come out on top.
The games that I think will tell us a lot about most likely 2024 Super Bowl attendees are:
- Bengals vs Ravens, Thursday, November 16th
- Eagles vs Chiefs, Monday, November 20th
- 49ers vs Eagles, Sunday, December 3rd
- Eagles vs Cowboys, Sunday, December 10th
- 49ers vs Ravens, Monday, December 25th
- Lions vs Cowboys, Saturday, December 30th
- Bengals vs Chiefs, Sunday, December 31st
Based on the information we have now and the current standings, my prediction is that the Super Bowl 58 will be played by the Eagles and the 49ers, with the Eagles winning 17-10.

Our Super Bowl Predictions
1. The Kansas City Chiefs
Andy Reid and the Chiefs have build a powerhouse as #1 in the AFC West, and they are currently the most favored to win Super Bowl 58 at +500.
Personally, I’m not too sure that they’ll make it to the Super Bowl after the weakness they showed against the Denver Broncos, who have had a poor 2023 season so far.
I know that the Chiefs won the Super Bowl last year, but I feel like the odds of going-back to-back years are pretty low. Additionally, Kansas City may not feel like they need to win again, since they just won last year.
2. The San Fransisco 49ers
Another favorite to attend this years Super Bowl, this team came out swinging to start the season, knocking off the Steelers, Rams, Giants, Cardinals, and Cowboys, before finally taking a loss 19-17 to the Browns.
Since then, this #1 team in the NFC West lost their most recent games against the Vikings and Bengals, but overall the 49ers are a strong team with some killer defense.
Currently one of the most favored to win the Super Bowl at +525, the San Fransisco 49ers could have a definite shot at taking home the Lombardi Trophy.
3. The Cincinnati Bengals
Led by Joe Burrow, the Bengals have a high-powered offense that knows how to move the ball. This Ohio-based team is currently 4th in the AFC North.
As attendees in the 2022 Super Bowl, this Cincinnati team put up a tough fight, losing by a mere 3 points. Currently, the Bengals are at +1,100 to win the big Bowl in 2023, falling in place as 5th most likely to take home the trophy.
Their recent Super Bowl loss may send them into the playoffs with fire, as a team on a mission.
4. The Philadelphia Eagles
Like the Chiefs, I’m somewhat hesitant to bet on this team, following their shocking loss against the Jets. Prior to this loss, the Eagles were the only undefeated team, beating the Patriots, Vikings, Buccaneers, Commanders, and Rams.
Personally, I don’t think any of these wins were particularly challenging for the Eagles, and I wonder how they would face up against some tougher teams like the 49ers or Chiefs, who they’re set to play in upcoming weeks.
One reason I think the Eagles could win the Super Bowl, 1st in the NFC East and currently favored to win at +525, is because the Eagles lost it last year by three points. This alone might be enough drive to carry the Eagles through the playoffs and back for another shot to win the Super Bowl.
5. The Detroit Lions – Currently leading in the NFC North, this Michigan-based team is favored at +1,200 to win the Super Bowl currently. The Lions have a tough defense, and know how to play hard.
While they’re playing strong this season, they have notably lost to the Ravens and the Seahawks, but beat the Chiefs. With the way they’ve been playing this season, I wouldn’t count the Lions out of their chance to attend Super Bowl 58.
6. The Baltimore Ravens
This Maryland-based team came out swinging this season, taking down the Texans and the Bengals, as well as the Lions.
Their losses so far have been against the Colts and the Steelers, and both were lost by one point or less. I think their rematch against the Bengals will be very telling, as well as their game later in the season against the San Fransisco 49ers.
Currently 1st in the AFC North, the Baltimore Ravens are sitting at +900 odds to win the Lombardi Trophy this February.
Final Thoughts
2024 Super Bowl is set to be played at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this article, shared who I think has a chance to go to the Super Bowl. If you’ve been keeping up with the NFL so far this season, you know there have been upsets on upsets- who could have called the Broncos beating the Chiefs?!
This being said, we know that nothing is too certain, but we’ve still done our best to come up with predictions that are likely to come true (fingers crossed!).

*January playoffs edit- Who would have thought we would end up here? Joe Burrow and the Bengals out. The Eagles just got cooked by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Texans beat the Browns? The Packers headed to play the 49ers? I did NOT see that one coming.
